… is that anyone can come to Upholstery Club!
Every Tuesday, from 6.30pm to 9pm, passionate upholsterers from The London Chair Collective will demonstrate and instruct eager novices to work on several pieces of fabulous furniture in the light and airy workspace of The Goodlife Centre in London’s Waterloo, beginning on Tuesday 18th September.
Starting with an exploded office chair, a mid century modern sofa bed, a Victorian sofa and a Bergere chair. Upholstery Clubbers can come along and be shown how to unpick, tack, web, stretch, cover and pin them back into their revived glory.
The first class is being offered for just £10. The following evenings will be £30. Keen would-be upholsterers are invited to as many classes as they want, whenever they want, but recommended to book a day in advance on the Goodlife Centre’s website to guarantee a space.
The Goodlife Centre and Upholstery Club founder, Alison Winfield-Chislett shares her inspiration behind Upholstery Club:
“Upholstery courses are fast becoming some of the most popular of all our workshops. However, lots of people can’t commit to regular evening classes or give up a full weekend at a time. Therefore I wanted to offer something a bit more flexible and affordable that still gave people the chance to learn alongside professional craftsmen and woman. It’s Upholstery with no strings attached.”
She continues, “The London Chair Collective are a group of talented upholsterers based in and around London, united by a common goal to make old chairs beautiful again. I am delighted that they have agreed to be a part of Upholstery Club at The Goodlife Centre, where they can share their passion and knowledge with enthusiastic learners.”
