About: Spend a day learning the skills you need to set up and make patterned papers by floating paint on a liquid size.
This one day workshop will teach participants how to make marbled paper. It will show you the basic skills you need to set up and make patterned papers by floating paint on a liquid size.
The techniques used to make simple patterns will be covered and there will be enough time to create designs of your own.
The course will be taught with a mixture of demonstrations and group discussions, but will mainly involve hands on time producing a range of beautiful patterned papers to take away.
You will learn all the skills required using A4 sized trays and we will use prepared paper in a variety of colours.
As this is a very short course, the liquid size and paper will be prepared beforehand. The tutor will talk you through the processes employed to prepare the materials.
The use of all tools and materials is included.
If you wish to protect your work as you take it home please bring a folder or tube large enough to hold A4 paper.
Louise Brockman
Louise works for James and Stuart Brockman Ltd – a family bookbinding business. A qualified Science teacher, she has been marbling since 2001 and originally learnt to marble with Victoria Hall and later on with Ann Muir. She has her own workshop at home and works on papers for binders and other craftspeople. Her papers have a modern look and her preference is to use bright colours and metallics on a range of coloured papers.

Refreshments
Coffee, tea and biscuits are included in the course fee, but you will need to bring lunch with you or visit a nearby venue to purchase food.
Access
If you have any specific access or special needs, please contact us confidentially in advance by email info@thegoodlifecentre.co.uk. There is a small step to the entrance, and the toilet is on the ground floor.
All sewing workshops and occasionally lampshade making, tassel making and bookbinding workshops are located on the second floor. There is no lift access.
