Intro to Bookbinding

Into to BookbindingJoin us for a day of bookbinding and leave with your own hand stitched and bound covered note book.

During this one day workshop you will create a single section hardbacked book using a range of beautiful decorative papers. You will be introduced to the tools and techniques involved in traditional bookbinding; paper folding, cutting, pasting and sewing.

This workshop is aimed at beginners and as well as being offered as a standalone workshop, provides a skills foundation for more advanced bookbinding workshops.

This day will provide a foundation for more advanced bookbinding techniques. Each student will take home a single section hard bound notebook.

All tools and materials will be provided.

Kae Carlstedt-Duke is a resident artist at the Jubilee Stores and runs a commercial book bindery and letterpress studio, where everything is printed on a restored 1890 hand-fed printing press. Her mission is to re-introduce letterpress printing on the Isle of Wight and is keen for students to make use of her facilities for their own projects.

Kae has trained with London based printers at St Brides in Fleet Street and renowned bookbinders and book artists in the UK and New York.

All tools and materials will be provided.
