About: Do you want to start growing plants but don’t know how? Are you mystified why plants hate you? If you want to begin gardening, you may not know where to start, these sessions with professional gardener Jane Rogers will instill confidence and drip feed you with enough knowledge to watch your green fingers grow.

Gardening in Small Spaces – Vegetable Gardening

If you are just starting out or yearning for more crops in your space this workshop is for you. Growing your own is possible in even the smallest space. 

Let’s dig in and create a community of thriving gardeners, embracing the joys of sustainable living, even those of us living in central London.

Designed especially for those with limited space but an insatiable desire to cultivate their own lush gardens, this is an incredible opportunity to learn valuable techniques and unleash your green thumb potential.

Innovative Container Gardening: Discover creative ways to utilize containers, vertical gardens, and hanging planters to maximize space while ensuring optimal growing conditions. There is something for every space be it: potatoes in a pot, beans on a balcony or fresh herbs on your windowsill.

Soil Preparation and Plant Nutrition: Learn the art of soil selection, enrichment, and the proper use of organic fertilizers to create the perfect environment for your vegetables to flourish.

Selection of Vegetables: Gain insights into the best vegetable varieties for small spaces and explore how to plan your garden layout efficiently for both beauty and productivity.

Essential Plant Care: Acquire essential skills in watering, pruning, pest control, and disease prevention to ensure the health and vitality of your vegetable plants.

Harvesting and Maintenance: Master the art of harvesting your crops at their peak and receive guidance on maintaining a continuous harvest throughout the growing season.

You will leave with your own indoor growing project and bags of ideas to start a successful vegetable garden.

The use of all tools and materials is included.

Each workshop includes planting up a pot of seasonal plants/vegetables and is for you to take home and tend with loving care.

Jane Rogers is a busy professional gardener and has led many workshops including long and short courses at Kew Gardens, London. She is @Janerogersplot on instagram.

Refreshments

Coffee, tea and biscuits are included in the course fee, but you will need to bring lunch with you or visit a nearby venue to purchase food.

Access

If you have any specific access or special needs, please contact us confidentially in advance by email info@thegoodlifecentre.co.uk. There is a small step to the entrance, and the toilet is on the ground floor.

All sewing workshops and occasionally lampshade making, tassel making and bookbinding workshops are located on the second floor. There is no lift access.
