About: Perfect for people who live too far away from our centre in London, or anyone who prefers to take in information by watching more than once.
Settle down and enjoy three consecutive online videos, which you can watch for up to three months, with our expert and entertaining DIY tutor Moira Tighe who will help you demystify the methodical but creative world of tiling. The information given are the basic principles for both wall and floor tiling using domestic size tiles.
The videos are split into bite size portions to binge watch or absorb one at a time.
With your registration you will find a link to a PDF with the names of all the tools and the information used in the sessions. You can print this out and refer to it while you watch.
Session 1. Getting ready (39 minutes)
- Removing old tiles
- Surface preparation
- Planning the layout
Choose the right tool to get rid of your existing tiles. Get the right surface so that your tiling will be waterproof and permanent. Discover how to plan your tiling job to calculate how many tiles you will need and where the tiles will be spaced for maximum symmetry.
Session 2. Applying the tiles (47 minutes)
- Laying whole tiles with adhesive
- Cutting tiles to fit spaces
Start your job by applying all of the whole tiles. Use the correct tools to apply the adhesive to gain lovely flat tiles.
Explore all of the tile cutting tools to safely measure and cut all the extra sections of tiles to complete your job. Learn how to use hand tools as well as a simple ‘wet cut saw’.
Session 3. Finishing the tiles (19 minutes)
- Grouting in between the tiles
- Applying edging solutions
Once your tiles are dry and set, its time to apply the grout to achieve a thoroughly waterproof finish. Complete your project with tile edging for a modern and professional look.
