News of the Screws

We ran a  ‘How many Screws in a jar?’  competition on our stall at The Alternative Village Fete outside The National Theatre. Someone guessed 100 and another 1000.  How likely are people to guess the right number?

Remembering a math formula about averages, we added up all the numbers that people had guessed and divided it by the number of people who wrote down their guess.

The mean number came out as 355….and the correct number in the jar was 345.  An interesting experiment.

The winner was out by 1 screw. She guessed 346 and will be enjoying a free workshop of her choice. Well done Lisa.
