Woven Sea Grass Wood Stool

A one-day workshop from 10.00am-5:00pm to learn how to weave a seagrass chair seat.

Perhaps you have always wanted to know how to weave a seagrass chair seat? We have often been asked to help people learn the ways of basic seat weaving, so here is an opportunity to get to grips with your warp and your weft and take away a finished wood stool woven to gorgeousness with classic sea grass.

During this one day workshop you’ll put in practice John Page’s seagrass weaving instructions so that you can make a seagrass stool of your own.

This fast paced, but relaxing, one-day workshop will show you everything you need to know to complete a gorgeous beech wood stool to take home and enjoy. You’ll be sitting pretty by the end of the class and your new beechwood stool will be about 30cm x 30cm x 30cm, so easy enough to transport on the tube.

This seagrass weaving workshop is totally suitable for beginners. 

The use of all tools and materials is included.

John Page

Tutor John Page began his basketmaking career with a City & Guilds course in creative basketry, having been greatly impressed by the Crafts Council’s Contemporary International Basketry exhibition. He is a yeoman member of the Basketmakers Livery Company and repairs harps. John also teaches how to make Rush and Willow baskets at The Goodlife Centre.

Refreshments

Coffee, tea and biscuits are included in the course fee, but you will need to bring lunch with you or visit a nearby venue to purchase food.

Access

If you have any specific access or special needs, please contact us confidentially in advance by email info@thegoodlifecentre.co.uk. There is a small step to the entrance, and the toilet is on the ground floor.

All sewing workshops and occasionally lampshade making, tassel making and bookbinding workshops are located on the second floor. There is no lift access.
