Joining Forces with Waste Less Live More Week
The Goodlife Centre is delighted to announce that after the success of the pilot Repair Café held in July, the project is going to become a regular community event at its Waterloo based workspace. The next two dates are announced as Sunday 30th September and Saturday 3rd November, 2012 respectively. The September Repair Café will be officially part of Waste Less Live More Week, organized by Waste Watch.
Repair Café is a community project first developed in Holland, which encourages people to repair, reuse and recycle their possessions to reduce waste and reverse the rise of a disposable culture. Londoners are encouraged to bring-in transportable broken household items to Repair Café for assessment, and if deemed repairable by the organisers, can start making their repairs in the Repair Café. DIY, carpentry and electrical experts from The Goodlife Centre will be on stand-by to advise and a selection of tools and materials will be made available for use.
Waste Less Live More Week is an initiative by Waste Watch and events will take place all over the country in September. Its aim is to raise awareness that environmental and social issues are interlinked and tackling these issues together is a far more effective solution.
The Goodlife Centre is an independent learning space in Waterloo that offers daytime, evening and weekend courses in DIY, Upholstery, Decorating, Woodwork, Furniture Restoration and Crafts.
The next Repair Cafés will take place at The Goodlife Centre on Sunday 30th September and Saturday 3rd November, from 2pm – 5pm. The Goodlife Centre is just ten minutes from Waterloo, Borough and Southwark tube stations.
