Join us for a one-day beginner’s screen printing workshop with textile artist, Justine Ellis.
Starting with simple drawing and repeat pattern making techniques, you will be guided through the whole screen printing process during a day of exploration and practical learning.
All the equipment – screens, squeegees, inks and fabric are provided for you, but if you have some fabric you would like to experiment with, feel free to bring it along.
You will cut and screen print your own stencils as well as have the opportunity to print a pre made photo stencil.
You will practice screen printing onto different surfaces such as calico and paper, and at the end of the day you will have produced unique prints that you can finish as cushion covers, tea towels or hand made lampshades.
Justine is a professional printmaker and designer and a print fellow at the Royal Academy. Her own work has a bold textural quality and her teaching style is patient and enthusiastic.
