Fun times and away days at The Goodlife Centre. Get out of the office, away from screens and enjoy a day of creative exploration as a group in our newly renovated workshops in Bankside.
We offer several distinct workshops that can help to fortify a team and bring about a sense of camaraderie through a shared creative process. Each activity is led by a skilled craftsperson, who will teach age-old techniques that are still valuable and relevant today, and will certainly be of use after this workshop. It’s a wonderful way to offer your employees the chance to learn new skills and perhaps even develop a passion for a new hobby outside of the workplace.
Each project can be completed by a team of 10-13 people within half a day or a day. We have three fully kitted-out workshops and can accommodate three teams working on different (or identical) projects on the same day.
Involving traditional hand-tools as well as some fun modern machinery there is an opportunity for everyone to be involved in any of the following projects…
Build a beautiful bench together that can be used as a resting place indoors or out, for employees to regularly pause, reflect and remember what can be achieved in a short time, when everyone works together.
Create a fabulous upcycled table made of reclaimed wood, to take pride of place back in your headquarters, as a daily reminder of how big things can be created with small contributions from everyone. As featured in The Guardian.
Each team member will build (in pairs) a hand-crafted wooden stool which they will take away and use at home or at work as a permanent reminder of how every individual within a company relies on each other for support.
A beautiful workshop that brings the outdoors in. Working with deliciously seasoned wood each member of your team will mark out, then saw and hand carve their own beautiful spoon. Sanded down to a silky smooth finish, they can take it home to put it immediately to use in the kitchen.
Using traditional basket making techniques, each member of your team will create a wicker trivet to take home, made from delicious English Willow.
Spending a morning or afternoon with your team learning the first principles of DIY. We offer a Drill Skills or a Basic Electrics workshop, both of which teach people how to become a bit more independent in their own homes. These are our most popular corporate workshops.
full day workshops costs £175 per person (min 10/max 13 per project) including 20% VAT. Half Day workshops range from £55-70 per person. Costs include materials and the use of all tools and machinery. The projects you and your team make during the day are yours to keep. A generous supply of tea, coffee and biscuits is also included.
The Goodlife Centre has full public liability insurance and a trained first-aider on-site at all times. Guests are given a safety briefing at the start of each workshop and will be supervised using all tools and machinery. Each participant is required to sign an accident waiver before participation.
Our workshop spaces have been built inside a converted cardboard box factory from the 1950s and as such does have some limitations on wheelchair access – there is a single step at our front door and the toilet entrances are quite standard as you might expect from that era. The four ground floor workshops however are purpose built and therefore suitable for all wheelchair users and we have varying heights of workbenches to suit.
We can recommend several places nearby for lunch. Alternatively, we have some lovely additional workshop space upstairs that you may use for a picnic.
