Ideal for those who have completed our ‘Traditional Lampshades’ Workshop. However, if you are a beginner, dexterous crafter, or confident with hand sewing, this will be a great class to add more skills to your set.
Two-day weekend workshop. 10am – 5pm.
Boost the glamour of your boudoir with some fabulous hand pleated lampshades crafted with your own hands. Transform your lights into a stunning show piece of home décor using semi sheer fabrics from simple cottons to chiffon and silk.
In a two-day weekend workshop, City & Guilds craftsman, Ian will teach you the magic of creating an elegant empire shade with a pleated top and a contrasting lining and show you how to add some Va Va Vroom to your room with a scalloped edged coolie covered in two-tone organza or a suitable lightweight fabric or your choice.
If you have already learned to prepare a lampshade frame with tape binding and can make a stitched and lined lampshade, this course will take your ability to a whole new level. If you haven’t learned how to, Ian will show you how.
Ian has created a pair of ‘show case’ shades that have already caught the eye of all who see them. They are an example of what you could create in this exciting two-day class.
You can work on a variety of frames we have here from the classic ‘straight empire’ to more advanced shapes, depending on your confidence level. Frames in the photos below show the scope of what you can create.
Ian will also be teaching a one day workshops to learn the specially crafted trims and edging he has used to embellished these beauties.
The use of all tools and materials are included. Please feel free to bring your own fabrics if you would to make something special (approx 1 metre for each shade). We have additional assorted frames for sale and we also sell the special tape for binding so you can carry on creating at home.
