Do you love the thought of a bespoke wool rag rug nestled beneath your feet as you step out of bed? Do you like the idea of rag rugs but find the thought of it a bit daunting?
Sweep aside any lack of confidence as experienced teacher, Mary McGeown, shares her passion for this traditional home craft.
We have two beginners classes to introduce you to the technique of making rag rugs which will get you started and to grow your enthusiasm.
Our short evening workshop has been especially devised so you can get an introduction to the technique but still create something that can be produced in one evening; a looped wool tea cosy or fabulous coffee maker cover. Bring woollen wear that gave up the ghost in a hot wash or is too threadbare to wear and transform them into a treasure to keep or give as a gift. You can also use the materials provided at the centre.
Our one-day weekend workshop is a little more in depth and will start you off on a full rag-rug making project. Practice using many different materials and see how each produces a unique texture. Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to put together a palette of colours to suit your style. Use our materials or breath new life into a beloved sweater that met an untimely end in a hot wash! Maybe you wont reach the end of your project in the day, but fear not. We have vintage bodgers and hessian for you to buy and grow your passion at home.
All personal protection, tools and materials are included.
