The Goodlife Centre is independently funded. We offer an alternative to long courses in large colleges regulated by Local authority subsidies. We deliver top rate, interactive fast paced courses for busy people. Our classes are very small.
Our classes are open to all and there are no exams or tests at the end. We do not offer any formal qualifications or training for trades. We can make a lovely certificate if you want to prove you have been here.
Book online with your credit or debit card through our secure payment gateway or via paypal or call Alison on 0207 760 7613 and book by phone. If we are teaching- leave a message and we will get back to you.
To book online you will need to register first. (it only takes a few minutes and we treat your info as confidential). Our courses frequently sell out so book early to make sure of a space.
Click on ‘Check out with PAYPAL’ under the workshop you want and that will take you through to the secure payment website, PayPal. There is then an option to check out using a credit card. You do not need a PayPal account to use this service. You can also call us and we can take your booking over the ole dog and bone.
The Goodlife Centre is an independent training place, privately funded with no subsidies so we are unable to offer concessionary fees. However, if you receive our newsletter you will see we regularly run deals and discounts when launching new workshops.
Please check your junk mail folder. Our email registrations, payment confirmations and workshop reminders are all automated through our website. Please add *@thegoodlifecentre.co.uk to your safe list and check your junk mail folder for our emails before you contact us.
Let us know as soon as you can and we will try to help. If you can contact us in time we may be able to re-sell your space to someone on the waiting list but this is unlikely with less than 14 days notice.
We keep our classes small so you get a lot of attention, but that means classes are non-refundable and there are no make-ups for missed sessions. Please check your diary carefully and read our Terms of Business before you book a class.
If you find you are unable to attend one of our workshops, you may send someone in your place. Please let us know that person’s name before the workshop if you can. Sending a ‘sub’ in your place is only possible for one-day or complete multi-day courses.
If WE have to cancel a workshop, you’ll receive at least 24 hours notice. We will offer a credit, transfer your booking to another workshop or issue you a full refund – your choice.
Each workshop will explain if you need to bring anything other than your lovely self – in casual clothing if possible. We supply aprons so you won’t ruin your clothes.
We supply all tools and materials, but you may a small piece of furniture to Wood revival and Intro to upholstery. You can also bring photos of particular problems to discuss.
We will break for an hour’s lunch at about 1pm during all day classes. We have several cafes nearby and an inexpensive Mediterranean restaurant (El Vergel) next door, there is also a swanky new co-operative shop around the corner and we have a clean and comfortable seating area if you would like to bring your own lunch and we have free tea and coffee all day long.
There are small parks nearby.
A maximum of 10. We keep numbers small enough that you will be sure to get enough attention. As well as the expert leader, classes all have trained assistants to make sure you can get lots of help.
Except us to be friendly and welcoming. Our workshops are informal, interactive and small – up to 10 and always made up of a diverse and interesting group of people. It is an uncompetitive environment and we like laughter. We love people to ask lots of questions during the workshops and
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A STUPID QUESTION.
Everyone has their own workbench and stool, and we sometimes pair up for DIY exercises.
All of our workshops are filled with as many practical elements as we can cram in as we want to give everyone a chance to try as many tools and processes as they can.
We hand out simple notes for every class. It is a list of special terms, tools, materials and suppliers. After the workshop we will send you an email with the same notes attached, in case they get mislaid. More extensive notes for our DIY classes are in our book ‘Girls’ guide to DIY’- available at the centre for £10. We didn’t choose the title.
Sign up to our newsletter here and as soon as we arrange for a new brilliant expert to share their skills we will let you know. If you know, or are, a passionate craftsperson who might want to head up a class – contact us.
We are a few minutes walk from either Waterloo, Southwark and Borough tube stations – and on the ground floor. There are bike racks outside the building.
We are within the congestion zone but as most of evening workshops start at 6:30pm you should be able to avoid this by passing the Elephant & Castle boundary in your gas-guzzler at a whisker past 6pm. Find out more at the TFL site here. There is ample parking on single yellow lines which is free in the evening and on weekends.
If you want to come to a weekend course from a long way away, there are many budget hotels nearby.
Anyone over 10 when they book with an adult. We have some special courses that are ideal for parents and children to take together. Have a look at our Summer School page for details.
