In this 4 week practical evening course we will cover a range of skills to allow you to tackle simple DIY jobs at home. Each week you will have a chance to learn how to use and practice using tools and processes needed for basic household maintenance.
Week 1 – UN-DIY – The Hammer and Measure, Mark & Cut.
How to UN-DIY with a hammer. Nails – How to get them in and get them out. Simple methods and tips to mark out a job, measure more accurately and cut wood and plastic using hand saws and a cordless jigsaw.
Week 2 – Drilling & Fixing.
Overcome your fears of a power drill and learn how to fix those shelves and curtain tracks onto the wall. Learn how to choose the correct wall fixing and screw. At the end of this class you’ll even be able to drill into tile and brick.
Week 3 – Plumbing.
Tackle all of those niggly plumbing jobs you have around your home, fix leaky taps, unblock sinks with confidence and learn how to replace the sealant in your bathroom.
Week 4 – Electrics.
Stay safe in your home by learning what you can and can’t do yourself. Modernise your home by changing switch and socket plates. Build a switched light circuit.
This course is run on a Wednesday night over 4 weeks from 6:30 – 9pm. We add new dates every month.
